All About H-ACT
H-ACT was recently formed for the purpose of producing and presenting theatrical productions for the benefit and enrichment of the Hockessin community. As such, the group is fully engaged in planning and executing a variety of activities that are focused on making H-ACT completely operational by the end of it's current fiscal year (June 30th). Currently, we plan to submit our completed 501(c)3 application as soon as the State of Delaware approves the H-ACT Articles of Incorporation. Major activities that are currently under way include volunteer recruitment, patron and season subscriber development, establishing business processes and systems, outreach programs, and a facilities search.
In fact, as a result of our facilities search activities, H-ACT recently negotiated the use of the Main Auditorium of the Cokesbury Village in Hockessin. This 254 seat, handicapped-accessible theatre will be the main performance venue for H-ACT. Additional rehearsal space in the adjoining Henry B. DuPont Pavilion has also been allocated for H-ACT's use. Besides the tremendous benefit to our theatre group, H-ACT and the Cokesbury administration are very excited about the entertainment and volunteer opportunities being in such near proximity to the more than 400 residents of Cokesbury Village.
Our current plans call for a modest inaugural season of two full-length plays, one being in the Fall and the other in the Spring. H-ACT also intends to submit an entry into the 2004 Delaware One-Act Competition. The Play Selection Committee will begin the process of choosing the plays in May of 2003. Using "broad appeal" as a general guiding principal, the Selection Committee will choose plays with the idea of maximizing audience interest and volunteer involvement. The H-ACT Board firmly believes that the Hockessin community desires and would benefit from additional opportunities to participate in all aspects of theatre and that raising the community's awareness of our program should be one of H-ACT's highest priorities.
